Not true, no matter what people say

When I tell people that I am a freelance translator and interpreter, the reactions I get tell me that most of them have no idea what this profession entails - or that it even is an actual profession, for which you ideally have gone through some kind of schooling?!

The folks at eazylang wrote a nice little post about the five most common misconceptions about translation, which I'd like to share with you. They are:
  1. Being bilingual is enough to be a translator
  2. Translation is done word-for-word
  3. Being a translator is easy
  4. Translating a text is fast and free
  5. English translations are enough to reach a universal public
What are some of the misconcpetions you have encountered? I'd be interested to hear from you in the comments below!
